SHOT SHOW 2023
With past years of Covid restrictions, large gatherings, and in-person events being skipped by some of the game's most prominent names, this year's Shot Show was one of the most highly anticipated events to kickoff 2023!
At the beginning of each year, Sin City opens its arms to the weapons industry and everyone who supports her. Defense, hunting, ammunition, military, and law enforcement all have their hand in one of the year's biggest conventions. Companies debut their latest and greatest, celebrities and VIPs are walking the floor, and you can't help but get your hands on some of the most sought-after firearms on the market today.
The Sheepdog Coalition ascended on Shot and Las Vegas to bring awareness to the organization, further our relationships with partners, and see what new gear and equipment may be out there to benefit our veterans. This year's convention extended from the Palazzo hotel and casino across the street to Caesars Palace and smaller venues and events all over the city. We kicked off the weak and Sig Sauer's infamous range day, where we sampled a few firearms and optics and created a few new relationships for SDC.
One of the pieces of equipment we were able to try out that would greatly benefit veterans with disabilities on adaptive hunts would be Sig's BDX 2.0 system. The latest version of the BDX system will seamlessly pair a SIERRA BDX rifle scope and a KILO laser ranger finder that can be integrated with the SIG SAUER smartphone application. This technology would allow a hunter with limited dexterity in manipulating a scope to have the ease and confidence of an avid outdoorsman. The system can essentially put the spotter/guide into the driver's seat without technically being on the gun. This could play a vital part in the success of SDC's opportunities for special operation veterans with disabilities.
The remainder of the week was dedicated to developing relationships for SDC that can benefit our veterans and our readers. We intend to bring you a variety of content that should make for an exciting 2023. We'll bring you product reviews, custom rifle builds, and tests of new gear, all while highlighting veteran-owned businesses along the way. You'll be able to tag along on our hunts, listen to our guides' tips for success, and hear firsthand from members of the special operations community about how SDC is making an impact. And that impact depends greatly on our partners.
It was an eventful and productive week featuring everyone from Kyle Rhitenhouse to Donald Trump Jr., along with parties and events for some of our most respected brother organizations, such as the Recon Sniper Foundation. New gear, some exciting weapons systems, and even a fitness app for hunters are all in the queue for an exciting year. Shot Show 2023 appeared to be a great success for the industry as a whole, as it certainly was for The Sheepdog Coalition.
