HOME BASE & SOF

Home Base Veteran and Family Care is supporting Special Operations Veterans via the ComBHaT program. If you never heard of Home Base or the services they provide, this unique program was created with SOF veterans in mind. Their program was "Designed specifically for Special Operations Veterans and Service Members, the Home Base 5-day Comprehensive Brain Health and Trauma Program, or ComBHaT, treats the whole mind and body at a pace and personalization that operators expect."

Our founder and president of The Sheepdog Coalition, Mike Tyrell, was fortunate to have attended this week-long program. Home Base doesn't utilize a one size fits all approach, and each special operations warrior is given a thorough assessment and detailed treatment plan. That is what we here at SDC resonate with: a program built around a comprehensive evaluation of the individual that explores all forms of treatment.

Based on a model developed for retired National Football League players, the Comprehensive Brain Health and Trauma Program (ComBHaT), was launched in 2019 to provide the Special Operations (SO) community an integrated, multidisciplinary specialist evaluation, treatment and care coordination for Veterans and active duty Service Members across all services.
— Home Base Veteran and Family Care

Having first-hand experience in this organization, SDC considers Home Base an invaluable resource for the Special Operations community. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and musculoskeletal injuries are all evaluated for treatment within the program. ComBHaT is provided to Special Operations veterans, service members, or support personnel in need. Home Base provides this program at no cost, including clinical care, transportation, lodging, and meals.

“Special Operators require specialized care. They deserve that kind of individualized care and attention.”
— The Sheepdog Coalition

The Sheepdog Coalition was created for Special Operations veterans as a form of alternative therapy, which has been shown to have great benefits. Here at SDC, we harness the peace and serenity that hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation delivers while bonding with one another and experiencing the healing power of nature. Simply put, Special Operators need specialized and individualized care. Home Base understands that, and we're glad to support their organization.
